Mitsumi Now Shipping Full-Line of Bluetooth Products

Mitsumi targets growing market with Class 1 and Class 2 USB Bluetooth adaptors and modules

IRVING, Texas (March 3, 2003) – Mitsumi Electronics Corp., one of the world’s largest manufacturers of computer peripherals and electronic components and Official Bluetooth Associate SIG member, today announced it would be shipping the latest line-up of Bluetooth enabled products in March to lead the wireless market with:  Class 1 and Class 2 USB adaptors for easy integration into USB capable PC’s.  Mitsumi also offers Class 1 and Class 2 Bluetooth approved modules for use in a variety of designs.  Poised to become a Bluetooth leader, Mitsumi will have the capacity to produce more than one million Bluetooth products per month beginning 1st Quarter 2003.

Bluetooth USB Adaptors (for consumer devices):

                  Offering an entire line of Bluetooth adaptors both with long and short range distances, Mitsumi's Class 1 and Class 2 USB adaptors are both available with an MSRP of $63.99 and $39.99 and are available directly online through www.mitsumidirect.com.  Mitsumi’s adaptor line offers higher sensitivity, lower power consumption and the most aggressive pricing on the market.  These USB adaptors feature easy Plug-and-Play design.  The adapters are ultra-small, which makes them ideal for mobile use.

                  With an MSRP of $63.99 the Mitsumi Bluetooth Class 1 USB Adaptor Model WML-C51APR-K can share information and Internet access among Bluetooth-enabled devices such as PDAs, laptops, cellular phones, and printers.

      The Class 1 adaptor can transfer data at speeds of up to 723kbps and operates between client and access point within a 100 meter range (328 ft.).  Additionally, WIDCOMM software is included for easy setup of Bluetooth wireless network and managing devices, so a user may use a Bluetooth speaker/microphone headset with their notebook wirelessly.

                  With an MSRP of $39.99, the Mitsumi Bluetooth Class 2 USB Adaptor Model WML-C52APR-K can share information and Internet access among Bluetooth-enabled devices such as PDAs, laptops, cellular phones, and printers. The Class 2 adaptor can transfer data at speeds of up to 723 Kbps and operates between client and access point within a 10 meter range (33 ft.).  Additionally, WIDCOMM software is included for easy setup of Bluetooth wireless network and managing devices, so a user may use a Bluetooth speaker/microphone headset with their notebook wirelessly.  System Requirements:  The Mitsumi Bluetooth Class 1 and 2 USB adaptors are compatible with PC-compatible systems with processor 300 MHz or higher and with Windows 98SE, Me, 2000, XP and with Macintosh OS X (v10.2).

Bluetooth Modules:

                  Based on Bluetooth Version 1.1, these modules support both Class 1 and Class 2 and follow the Mitsumi promise of maintaining a thin and ultra-small feel while maintaining high performance by using surface mounting in the design.  All modules are certified.
