Mitsumi Launches Full-Line of Bluetooth Products at the December Bluetooth Developers Conference

Mitsumi targets growing market with class 1 and class 2 adapters, Bluetooth peripherals and modules

 SAN JOSE, Calif. (December 10, 2002) San Jose Convention Center booth # 526 Hall 1 – Mitsumi Electronics Corp., one of the world’s largest manufacturers of computer peripherals and electronic components and Official Bluetooth Associate SIG member, today announced the latest line-up of Bluetooth enabled products to lead the wireless market with:  class one and class two adapters for easy integration into consumer-level products,  a hands-free speaker phone for the cell phone market, and high-performance modules that have a variety of ranges.  Poised to become a Bluetooth leader, Mitsumi manufacturing will have the capacity to produce more than one million Bluetooth products per month beginning in December 2002.

With growing demand for Bluetooth enabled products, Mitsumi’s goal is to be a leading supplier of wireless peripherals while maintaining a varied product line.  These latest products, which will be showcased at this week’s Bluetooth Developers Conference in San Jose (booth # 526), offer a glimpse of Mitsumi’s push with Bluetooth technology.

Product highlights include:

• Bluetooth USB Adapters (for consumer devices): Offering an entire line of Bluetooth adapters both with long and short range distances (Class 1 and Class 2 are both available), Mitsumi’s adapter line offers higher sensitivity, lower power consumption and the most aggressive pricing on the market.  These USB adapters feature easy Plug-and-Play design that conform to RCR-STD-T66 technology and are ultra-small, which makes them ideal for mobile use.
•  Bluetooth Car Hands-Free: With more than 70 percent of all mobile phone calls being made from the car, Bluetooth Hands-Free products are designed to provide a safe, convenient alternative for mobile users.  This device plugs into the cigarette lighter and allows Bluetooth-enabled cell phone users unfettered, wireless communication in the car – freeing the driver from the annoyance and potential danger of traditional corded in-car cell communications.
• Bluetooth Modules: Based on Bluetooth Version 1.1, these modules support both Class 1 and Class 2 and follow the Mitsumi promise of maintaining a thin and ultra-small feel while maintaining high performance by using surface mounting in the design.  All modules are certified.
