In January's issue we introduced Feng Shui- the Chinese art of placement. We discussed its principles and practice. This month we will focus on utilizing the Ba-Gua to enhance different aspects of one's life, specifically personal fame. We will advise on how to use the Ba-Gua and incorporate enhancements to activate the fame sector.

The Ba-Gua is the symbolic tool that is used to interpret good or bad Feng Shui. The eight-sided chart utilizes the eight directional points of a compass. The diagram of the Ba-Gua illustrates each sector and its symbolic representation. Each side represents a directional point and sectors of one's life: fame, marriage, children, helpful people, career, knowledge, health, and wealth. Color is assigned to that sector to attract good chi. Followed by one of the five natural elements - water, wood, fire, earth and metal.

The fame sector is in the South direction and is represented by the color red and the natural element of fire. In order to attract good chi in this sector the keyword to remember is "lights."

Lights are for illuminating and brightening. This can easily applied to one's life. Especially for those who wish to have more recognition in his or her career, adding bright lights in this sector can certainly brighten one's future.

It is a good rule to use lights that have white or bright light, as in incandescent bulbs or halogen bulbs. Colored bulbs are discouraged because it can attract bad chi instead of good chi. Stay away from dark lamp shades and bases because the dark is symbolic of destroying the light of a fire. Blue is also discouraged because it is symbolic of water that puts out the flame of a fire.

The best placement of lights is in the South sector of a room. Floor lamps, ceiling or wall mounted lights, and even tabletop lamps are sufficient. Candles are great for illuminating a room. In an office workspace, the most recognized lighting is fluorescent, which is overhead each office. A desk lamp on the South sector of one's desk is acceptable, as is a floor lamp in the same sector.

There is no guarantee that adding bright lights to one's workspace will land you a role in a major motion picture and turn you into an overnight celebrity. Adding light in the South sector of one's life will brighten your workspace and enhance good chi to flow in the workspace, which in turn may shed some light to your career achievements.
